Tasks description
The receiving organization will provide a room for each volunteer. As regarding food, as the Cultural Club 'Africa' is also an ethnic restaurant the volunteers will be allowed to use the kitchen and make whatever they want.The taking part in the activities will be made easier by training courses of languages, computer or anything else required, according to each volunteer's needs. Working time will cover an amount of 30/35 hours per week but it may be quite flexible because of the varieties of the initiatives whose organization the volunteer will contribute to.If two volunteers are involved they will have the chance of carrying out the assigned tasks together, thus sharing undertakings and responsibilities. Here below you can find a supposed standard week:- Monday morning (3 hours): meeting with the tutor to plan the weekly activities and value the carried out ones; meeting with all the people involved in the running of the association to plan the whole week and possible outer initiatives. By adopting this method we aim at giving the volunteer a systematic and organized way of working. Finally the morning will be dedicated to the website running with the members involved in its carrying out;- Monday afternoon (3 hours): widening of the subjects our Club is responsible for (immigration, intercultural themes, poverty, development etc.) with the chance of reading and discussing with the members.- Tuesday morning (4 hours): writing the newsletter the Club fortnightly sends to his members: the volunteer will take part in choosing the themes that will be proposed in the review and the articles ready to be written with the tutor or other members.- Tuesday afternoon (3 hours): meeting with local associations and non-profit organizations to plan awakening initiatives concerning the most urgent social themes in the territory.- Wednesday morning (4 hours): promotion of the voluntary service in the Province schools to explain our aims and initiatives; the volunteer will meet the secondary schools students and introduce his/her own culture and experience.- Wednesday afternoon (3 hours): organizing seminars and concerts; the volunteer will be able to suggest subjects to study in depth and will deal with the organization of future initiatives.- Thursday morning and afternoon (8 hours): research centre opening; the trained volunteer will supply with his/her help in the consultation of books and magazines and their cataloguing.- Friday: free (if the volunteer wishes, he/she will always be allowed to take part in the association's activities).- Saturday morning (3 hours): preparation of the training course for the citizenship about intercultural themes and arrangement of the required didactic materials.- Saturday afternoon (4 hours): welcoming the participants and taking part in the course.- Sunday: freeThe tasks will be assigned to the volunteer as follows:- promotion in the Province schools 15%- meeting with local associations and non-profit organizations 20%- contact with local institutions dealing with social politics and education 5%- organizing a festival of African movies 10%- organizing the People Festival 5%- organizing events with ethnic food and music involving the associations of immigrants 10%- research centre opening, backing the consultation and cataloguing books and magazines, newsletter 10%- training courses 10%- organizing the course about intercultural themes 15%As the Club is open every evening as ethnic restaurant, the volunteer will be offered many occasions to socialize; besides he will be able to meet operators and volunteers of other organizations and interact with the various immigrants' associations actively working in the social field; taking part in the various local initiatives will constitute an important chance to grow and wide his/her cultural horizons.
