Tasks description
The tasks of the volunteer will vary according to the seasons. During spring, summer and autumn the majority of activities will be outdoors. During the winter the activities wil mostly be indoors in the municipal offices, the sportshall or the swimmingpool. It is important that the volunteer is flexible as regards the working hours. The working hours will be spread on day, afternoon and evening time, there will also be some weekend work. The working week will be 37.5 hours with 5 weeks of holiday in 1 year. In the beginning the volunteer will be having the role of an assistant, as the experience of the volunteer increases s/he will be expected to take a more leading role. If training or courses are required for the volunteer to be able to function then this will be provided. The tasks of the volunteer will be deicided upon according to the needs of the project and the interest/skills of the volunteer. Hence the outline of a working week below may be altered after the volunteer have arrived. The main areas of duties envisaged will include the following areas: * 20 % Assisting the Kulturskule administration, planning, preperation reporting * 20 % Practical work with cultural heritage * 20 % Assisting and leading sports activities (football, volleyball, swimming, basketball etc in the sportshall or swimmingpool). * 20 % Assist and lead outdoors activities (climbing, kayaking, sailing)In addition we expect the volunteer to: Participate / assist in local youth projects, cultural or sports arrangements . Act as a leader on possible youth exchanges in cooperation with the project Vesle Daniel. According to the above an average week may look like this: Monday: 0800- 1600 Assisting the Kulturskule administration. This especially concerns planning, preperation and reporting of activities and individual projects. The volunteer will be expected to follow individual projects from the beginning to the end, thus aquiring a sound knowlegde of project management. Tuesday: 0800-1600 Assist in practical work with cultural heritage.Parts of the kulturskule curriculum is to reinforce the local identity of the youths. Hence the cultural heritage is a very important aspect of the kulturskule activities. The activities may include foothpath maintenance, maintenance and restoration of historical buildings, maintenance, maintenance and restoration of historical boats, group excursions to historical sites, WednesdayThursday, Friday (afternoon and evening): Assisting and leading sports activities (football, volleyball, swimming, basketball etc in the sportshall or swimmingpool. Some weekdays / evenings and weekends: Assist and lead outdoors activities:The Kulturskule is involved in a range of outdoors activities, these include climbing, absailing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, mountaineering and others.Through an active use of the nature the kulturskule aims to develop the understanding, respect and further use of the outdoors. Offering interesting and exiting activities to the young people is integral to achieving this aim. Activities will be lead by appropriately qualified instructors, the volunteer will be acting as an assistant to these. If needed the volunteer will be given the opportunity to take part in courses increasing his/her skills in the various activities.
