Tasks description 


The volunteer will work with and for the aims which were described in the project description by leading conversations with groups of young. These conversations would consist of culture, traditions etc. of one EU-country and after two weeks period the 'theme country' would change. The volunteer should prepare the subject for discussion and then present it to the groups. The volunteer would also organize activities at the "Closer to Europe" -club to make the leaning more efficient and interesting for the pupils. These activities would be connected with the day's subject and would be realized according to the volunteers own ideas. Volunteer will teach responsibilities for pupils with support from teachers of the school. The volunteer would work 6 hours per day, 5 days a week with the total of 30 hours /week.

Volunteers tasks consist of:
- gathering information and preparing materials for the daily subject of conversation, (25%)
- organizing competitions, games, drama-workshops and manual works for pupil's free time (or realizing his/her own ideas), (20%)
- encouraging and motivating the pupils to take part in the activities, (5%)
- leading conversations in classes, (25%)
- organizing some games and quizzes held during lessons or realizing his/her own ideas, (25%)

The time-table for a week:

Monday:
09.00-09.45 - gathering information and preparing material for conversation
09.45-10.30 - conversation in class 1
10.30-11.00 - coffee break
11.30-12.15 - conversation in class 2
12.15-13.45 - lunch break
13.45-14.45 - activities at the "Closer to Europe" -club for group 1;
the daily subject could be: Geography and tourist places in country X.
14.45-15.00 - the same subject for group 2
15-16.00 Polish language lessons

group 1 - pupils at the age of 9-10 years
group 2 - pupils at the age of 11 - 13 years

The timetable would be similar for the rest of the week, but the subjects of the conversations would vary, for example:
Tuesday: History and monuments in country X.
Wednesday: Art and music in country X.
Thursday: Public and religion festivals and the habits in country X.
Friday: Sport and entertainment in country X.
Saturday and Sunday - free time

On the last day of every two-week -period the subject would be: The day of a country X - summarising all the information about country X. This could be achieved with drama, competitions, crosswords, cooking the countries national meals, etc.
In next two weeks another country would be presented.

Most part of the time volunteer will work in a group. The group work is aimed to promote the common understanding among youth, to help each other, to share the problems and to have fun together. Group working is very important for gaining new experience: co-ordinating and leadership skills.

The trainings and courses provided by the project:
1. Training provided to the volunteer preparing them for tasks concerning youth work and project management. The framework of this training programme would involve the following:
- learning how to create and manage youth projects,
- learning how to work with a group: methods of team building, communication being the tool for intercultural learning.
- learning of pedagogic and methods for working with children and youth
- learning about European Integration.
2. The Polish language course (total of 40 hours). These lessons will be led by the teacher of English language.

Holidays / vacation:
The volunteer will have weekends free and if there are activities during the weekend, she/he will get free on weekdays. The volunteer will also have free days when it is a church or national holiday in Poland.
The volunteers will have two fortnight holidays in the twelve months of European Voluntary Service.

At the beginning of volunteer's programme he / she will be introduced to their duties by leaders who will provide support, but with time it is hoped that the volunteer would learn more and require increasing less assistance, carrying out jobs independently.
All volunteer's tasks do not substitute professional work. The volunteer's tasks do not contain an administrative character, because full-time employees of school perform these tasks. Tasks are not designed in order to achieve profit, because school is a public institution with no aim to make financial gain from their activities.There's possible to arrange English lessons for volunteer if he/she has got a will to improve it; there's also planned to arrange Polish lessons for volunteer in order to make his/her communication with Polish youth easier.There will be a training provided to the volunteers preparing them for tasks concerning youth work and project management.
