Tasks description

Our reasons for hosting a European volunteer are to be able to show foreign young people our work in the disabilities' field, and especially in the leisure service, as well as to exchange possible experience and working methods. With all this, we expect to achieve a change of attitude in this volunteer, who for the first time approaches our association, and thus generate a multiplying effect.

VOLUNTEER'S TASKS
They will base their work on providing services for direct assistance to the association's user population (disabled people). This involves participating in all phases of the work (programme, execution, and assessment of activities). Thus, they would participate in:
1. Casal: afternoons, Monday to Friday, October to June, 17.00 to 21.00 hours (4 afternoons from 5).
2. Esplai: Saturdays, changing timetable, mornings or afternoons.
3. Summer school: July and August, leisure activities in the mornings, Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 14.00 hours (although the summer school timetable is much larger).

TASKS' DESCRIPTION
In those services they will perform tasks as leisure activities monitor for disabled people. These activities will be based on accompaniment and help in executing the activities made each day by the users and previously planned:
CASAL: Activities change every three months to avoid people coming every day (approx. 35 hours) find them boring. Every day we offer two activities to each of the two groups in which participants are divided.
- Some activities are focused on the older group (aged 16 to 30) with a high level of autonomy (cooking, manual craft, percussion workshop, theatre, beadwork, sports, dancing therapies and activities with non disabled people in workshops organized by Palma council).
- Other activities are aimed at the younger group and more dependence (stimulation, relaxing, outing in Palma, park, playground games…)

ESPLAI: An amount of 65 disabled people divided in several groups participate in the Esplai. Every weekend we offer activities, so both users and monitors can choose their favourite activity. Activities offered are those everyone does during the weekend (outings, cinema, going out for lunch or dinner, visits to museums, walks by the city…)

SUMMER SCHOOL: With an attendance average of 50 people, activities are suitable for this season: beach, swimming-pool, outings, visits and walks by the city, water games, popular games, sports…
