Theme 1 Art and culture Theme 2 Youth leisure Target group 1 Youth and children ******************************************* The project organises a yearly festival with more than 100 films projected, workshops, publications,… . The target group of the project is children and teenagers from all social backgrounds. The 'Europees Jeugdfilmfestival' cooperates with other festivals and organisations in all Europe. In Belgium they have a strong cooperation with Jekino, a youth film organisation. The project is financed by the entrance money, sponsoring, subsidies (Ministery of Culture, Education, the Province of Antwerp, …). The aims of EYFF are: - to organise a film festival of European films for young people and children - to offer courses on media and culture- to bring together youngsters and European culture 'carriers' - to make young people familiar with the culture and lifestyle of our surrounding countries - to develop the interest of youngsters in a filmto stimulate independent audiovisual productions in Flanders. The activities take place in Antwerp, a harbour of world importance, and the unofficial capital of Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. It has a rich and lively social and cultural life, and a differentiated economy. With a rich history (among others Baroque) and population of about 500.000, it offers enough variety to be an extremely interesting city, still being small enough to be 'warm' and 'cosy'. ********************************** TASKS : The volunteer will be involved in the different activities of the project, such as: - selecting films for the film festival (meaning: getting a lot of video's together and watch them and select them, together with the staff.) Before the video's get there, to make contacts with partners to reach that they send the video's to the office. (20%) - make international contacts with the other European filmmakers, this mostly by e-mail, to discover possible partners, to develop the coöperation between each other. (20%) - being responsible for the film-traffic: once the films are selected, the volunteer needs to try to get the big-screen-print of the films here. This means a lot of communication to reach that aim. (20%) - look for sponsors for the festival, to contact organisations or company's, embassy's etc. who would be willing to support in a financial way, these can be existing or new contacts (10%) - helping with the programmation of the film festival: to make the choice of where and when to show wich films (this depends on when the print can arrive and have to be send back, so about this communication is important with the staff), to make sure there are the practical facilities for the festival, the different places to show the films, to spread publicity for the festival towards the target-group, to help with the practical realisation of the programmation. (30%) - teammeeting which can be a moment for evalution
